While it’s not nearly as salacious as infighting over the disastrous Steve Jobs biopic or badmouthing President Obama, the Sony leak produced some very noteworthy nuggets about the upcoming James Bond movie SPECTRE.
In addition to the usual battles over budget (Sony says $300 million is too much, producer Barbara Broccoli says it’s not enough), the hacked emails contained several important plot points that had yet to be revealed. They are:
- The main villain will be Ernst Stavro Blofeld, as had been indicated by the film’s title. The emails did not confirm if the role will be played by Christoph Waltz, but it would be a major surprise if it weren’t
- Blofeld’s sidekick will be a “Lesbian Bad Lady,” although it doesn’t say anything else beyond that
- Andrew Scott (amazing as Professor Moriarty on the BBC Sherlock series) will be playing “C,” a new superior of Bond’s at MI6. Presumably, he’s only 10 promotions away from becoming the new “M”
- Scott is making $1 million less than they would have had to pay Chiwetel Ejiofor, who has previously been offered the part
