You know Emma Watson as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter, but you probably didn't know she's also a goodwill ambassador for women at the United Nations.

The 24-year-old actress just delivered a powerful speech on gender equality while launching a new campaign.

Watson explained the definition of feminism (FYI):

“The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.”

She went on to discuss some common stereotypes about feminism:

"I decided I was a feminist and this seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Apparently I am among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong, too aggressive, isolating, anti-men and, unattractive."

Before delving into how this issue affects both men and women, which is what the new UN campaign, HeForShe, is about: involving men in the fight against gender disparity. Because as the site states, this is not just a women's issue, but a human rights issue.
