People are back in the streets of New York for a second night of protests over the grand jury decision not to indict a white NYPD officer in the chokehold death of unarmed Staten Island resident Eric Garner, and protests have erupted in Boston as well.
The Boston Globe reports that thousands of protesters swarmed Boston Common during city’s annual tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday night (above). The protesters chanted "I can’t breathe!" as singers performed “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" at the ceremony. After the ceremony, many of the protesters marched toward the State House and swarmed City Hall Plaza.
Meanwhile, in New York, protesters marched across the Brooklyn Bridge carrying mock-coffins and police shut down some Brooklyn-bound lanes due to the protests, NBC News reports. For the second night in a row, protesters walked onto Manhattan's West Side Highway stopping traffic.
