Following Roseanne Barr's controversial tweets earlier this year and the subsequent cancelation of her show, ABC announced it had picked up a Roseanne spinoff for fall 2018 following the rest of the Conner family. The series, appropriately titled The Conners, might even kill off Roseanne according to John Goodman. Understandably, Barr isn't too happy about the series, and according to a new interview, she plans to leave the country before it premieres.
During an appearance on the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach Podcast, she revealed how she really feels about the new version of the series. "I'm not going to curse it or bless it," she said of The Conners. "I'm staying neutral. That's what I do. I'm staying neutral. I'm staying away from it. Not wishing bad on anyone, and I don't wish good for my enemies. I don't. I can't. I just stay neutral. That's what I gotta do."
Speaking about leaving the country before The Conners premieres, she explained, "I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that's where I'm going to go and probably move somewhere there. [...] It's my great joy and privilege to be a Jewish woman."
During the chat, she also spoke about the controversy surrounding her racist tweet regarding Barack Obama's former senior advisor Valerie Jarrett. "My friends told me in the beginning, they said, 'Oh my God, you've made a fatal mistake, and it's all over YouTube, a lot of people are saying.' They said, 'You made a fatal mistake... apologizing to the left.' Once you apologize to them they never forgive, they just try to beat you down until you don't exist."
That's Roseanne Barr staying neutral, apparently.
