The comic book adaptation of The Last Jedi is attempting to clear up some of the misconceptions laid out by the 2017 film. As you may recall, the Rian Johnson written and directed movie featured a scene where Luke Skywalker and Rey were engaged in a one-on-one duel in the rain. After Luke was able to pry Rey’s weapon away from her, she retrieved a lightsaber wedged in a nearby area. As Skywalker continued to retreat, he was sent to the ground where he braced his fall by using the Force.

As Rey stood over Luke, it appeared as though she defeated him. ScreenRant has discovered the comic that attempts to clear up any confusion surrounding that moment. A small panel clearly shows that Skywalker ended up on his back because he slipped over some rocks. The image of Luke is clearly punctuated by the word “SLIP.” Check it out here

Diehard Star Wars fans may have had issues with the way Johnson fast-tracked the Force for Rey in The Last Jedi. While it took Luke more than one film to fully comprehend and utilize his abilities with the help of Yoda, Rey was able go through that same progression in just one film, and she never had the same Skywalker bloodline that made her destined to become a Jedi.

It felt as though the fanbase was being robbed of the same authenticity that they stayed true to in the previous chapters. This comic book may have served a slight justice to what Last Jedi got wrong, but Johnson still has a long way to go.
