Issa Rae Is Thriving in Season 3 Trailer for HBO's 'Insecure'

Issa Rae is bringing 'Insecure' back for round three in August. The new trailer for the critically acclaimed comedy sees Issa Dee and company "thrivin' and lookin' like all three Jennifer Hudsons."

HBO and Issa Rae have asked that you "make all necessary arrangements" to ensure you don't miss the premiere of Insecure season 3 next month, which is a totally reasonable request.

Late Sunday, Rae and company gave us the first full-length trailer for the critically acclaimed comedy's new batch of episodes. The latest glimpse, which follows last month's mirror-centric teaser clip, kicks off with Issa Dee and her friends celebrating their "thrivin' and lookin' like all three Jennifer Hudsons" level of singledom. Catch the full trailer below.

Rae previously teased the themes she’ll be exploring on these new episodes. As revealed in a Q & A with the Hollywood Reporter, Insecure season 3 will take a deep-dive into "black masculinity as it relates to black women" and more. "I think that's something interesting that we haven't gotten a chance to explore yet — and specifically toxic male black masculinity as it relates to black women," she said. "I'm trying to find a way to explore that and get a rounded storyline that isn't preachy." As the characters enter their third decades of existence, she added, we'll also see them "adulting in a new way."

Last month, the trailer for The Hate U Give—starring Rae, Common, and Amandla Stenberg—dropped. Revisit that below.
