Chadwick Boseman's Next Movie Is NYPD Detective Drama '17 Bridges'

'17 Bridges' will star Chadwick Boseman as an NYPD detective tasked with tracking down a cop's murderer. The film, described as a "race-against-the-clock crime drama," starts shooting in September.

Chadwick Boseman has his next project lined up, this time linking up with Game of Thronesdirector Brian Kirk and the writer behind The Philly Kid, Adam Mervis.

The Black Panther lead will star in and produce 17 Bridges, Varietyreported Wednesday. Described by STXfilms' Adam Fogelson as a "race-against-the-clock crime drama," the film will see Boseman working with frequent producer/actor collaborator Logan Coles (Message From the King); Avengers: Infinity War directors and MCU mainstays Joe and Anthony Russo will also produce.

Boseman will play a "disgraced NYPD detective" tasked with tracking down a cop's murderer. According to Fogelson, the assembled team of creatives will ensure the movie avoids becoming "typical popcorn fare." Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit the story has a "Inside Man meets Heat" vibe. Additional casting info has not been announced.

News of Boseman's next project arrives the same week that a possible release date for the Black Panther sequel was spotted amid Disney's release calendar shuffling. An untitled Marvel Cinematic Universe entry has been bumped up from July 30, 2021 to Feb. 12, 2021. For various reasons detailed right here, the untitled film is quite likely Black Panther 2.
