Hold onto your frosty, fruity beverages! The television event of the summer is almost here. MTV presents the 2018 Movie & TV Awards tonight, and host Tiffany Haddish is ready. The uproarious actress and comedian will introduce a slew of presenters to dish out the coveted golden popcorn trophies to this year’s brightest talents on and behind the silver screen. Oh, and Nick Jonas is scheduled to perform with Mustard, in addition to a performance by Chloe x Halle. No big deal. (Very big deal).
In addition to the entertaining fanfare synonymous with MTV award shows, the hilarious, versatile Chris Pratt will be presented with the Generation Award. From portraying the endearing Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation, to the dinosaur-defeating hero Owen in Jurassic Park—and not to mention, Star-Lord across the Guardians of the Galaxy universe—Pratt has become one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed names.
But that’s not all. Lena Waithe, master of acting, writing, producing, and best known for her role as Denise in Netflix series Master of None, will be honored with the Trailblazer Award. Past recipients include Emma Watson (2013) and Shailene Woodley (2015). The award highlights groundbreaking work that pushes boundaries in film and television, which Waithe has done as the creative force behind the Showtime drama The Chi.
