‘Atlanta’ Has Been Renewed for a Third Season

Following the success of the critically acclaimed Robbin’ Season, FX has announced that ‘Atlanta’ will be renewed for a third season.

In a move that comes as a shock to no one, Atlanta has been renewed by FX for a third season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. When the announcement was made official, FX Networks and FX Productions programming president Nick Grad released the following statement, praising the show's second season and expressing his excitement for what’s to come for the third installment of the critically-acclaimed series.

"Atlanta is phenomenal, achieving and exceeding what few television series have done," Grad said. "With Atlanta Robbin’ Season, Donald and his collaborators elevated the series to even greater heights, building on the enormous success of their award-winning first season. We’re grateful to the producers and our extraordinary cast and crew for achieving this level of excellence, and we share the excitement with our audience about the third season knowing they will continue to take us to unexpected and thrilling places."

In light of the success of Robbin’ Season, it never felt like Atlanta was ever in danger of not being renewed. It seemed as though the decision to move forward with the third season fell squarely on the shoulders of Donald Glover, and the rest of the cast. Since the debut of Atlanta, Glover’s star has grown immensely in practically all facets of entertainment. If Glover was willing to give it a go, the network was going to back him 100 percent.

The announcement makes it clear that Glover wants to get back into that invisible car one more time, and FX is down for the ride.
