It's award show season, which means everyone is on Twitter trying to get jokes off. One tweet that kept popping up on Sunday evening is that Meryl Streep's Oscar night look very closely resembles Fairy Godmother from Shrek.
Attending the 90th Academy Awards with a record-breaking 21st Oscar nomination for her role in The Post, Streep showed up wearing a red dress and glasses. Her hair was also pulled up in a very similar style as Fairy Godmother's.
The resemblance wasn't just noticeable from one angle, either.
Some people even pointed out that the similarities extended beyond the red dress. Streep has actually shown a resemblance to a blue dress-wearing Fairy Godmother in the past.
Who knows how the legendary actress will feel about this comparison, but her night wasn't completely defined by the Fairy Godmother jokes. In a memorable red carpet moment, Girl's Trip star Tiffany Haddish spotted Streep and climbed over a rope to run after her, screaming, "You’re gonna be my momma!” Haddish has repeatedly said that she wants Streep to play her character's mother in a Girl's Trip sequel.
