Ta-Nehisi Coates’ highly-acclaimed, award-winning book Between the World and Me will be taking the stage in April, and the first staged reading influenced by the book will be led by an all-star cast.

The program will take place at New York’s Apollo Theater on April 2 and April 3, and will star Common, Angela Bassett, and Susan Kelechi Watson (This Is Us). However, different celebrities will perform the reading each night: Common and Bassett are set to appear on April 2 alongside Tony-nominated actress Michelle Wilson, while Watson will appear on April 3 beside Pauletta Washington.

The Grammy-nominated jazz director Jason Moran is slated to create music for the performance, which is headed by Apollo’s executive producer Kamilah Forbes. The production has been a joint effort between Coates, Moran, and Forbes, and will combine staged readings from Between the World and Me with visual components and Moran’s musical compositions.
