The record has shown Massachusetts law enforcement has poor judgment. In early August one Massachusetts police department was reported for showing preference to applicants who were “honest” and said that they’d let a fellow police officer or friend off the hook if they were involved in a DUI. Today a police officer employed by the town of Millis, Massachusetts was discovered to be lying about being shot at.
The 27-year-old officer, whose name hasn’t been released, reported the fake shooting yesterday in Millis, Massachusetts. He said his patrol car spun out of control and crashed into a tree after a white man in a dark pickup truck shot at him, causing him to fire back.
Millis Police Sergeant William Dwyer revealed the story was a fabrication at a press conference today saying,
He also revealed that the officer was new, working part-time and that he was training to become full-time. The officer has since been fired.
Sgt. Dwyer said the case is still under investigation and that he doesn’t know why the officer lied.
