An upcoming US Justice Department report on the Ferguson Police Department is said to conclude that Ferguson police disproportionately targeted African-American residents with stops, fines and force. During one 6 month period last year, 95% of people held in Ferguson's jail for more than two days were black.
The report will also unveil examples of racism from emails between the police and local court employees. In one email, an unnamed sender wrote that US President Barack Obama wouldn't stay in office long as "what black man holds a steady job for four years." In another, the sender says that a women in New Orleans who went to hospital to end her pregnancy later got a cheque from "Crime Stoppers".
The full Justice Department report is set to come out today.
