Massive Fire Hits Downtown Los Angeles

A huge fire broke out in Los Angeles last night, causing 250 firefighters to be dispatched to the scene.

A huge fire broke out overnight in downtown Los Angeles, as an apartment building under construction caught fire and quickly spread. The fire—located on the north end of the city at the corner of Temple and Fremont streets—can be seen for miles and temporarily shut down the nearby 101 and 110 highways (all are reopen except for the northbound 110).

The LA Fire Department reports that there are a ton of firefighting personnel on the scene:

The fire was contained in about 90 minutes and the cause is unknown at this time, but the pictures are pretty stunning and show the incredible scope of the blaze:
