State of Emergency Declared in Ferguson Prior to Grand Jury Decision About Darren Wilson

A decision about Wilson's future is expected to come any day.

As the state of Missouri braces itself for a grand jury decision on whether or not Darren Wilson will be charged for killing Michael Brown, its governor has declared a state of emergency. Officer Wilson fatally shot the 18-year-old in Ferguson, Mo. on Aug. 9. 

According to Talking Points Memo, Gov. Jay Nixon's decision puts police in St. Louis County in command of Ferguson in the wake of any protests. Furthermore, law enforcement in St. Louis County will collaborate with police in the city of St. Louis and the Missouri State Highway Patrol to maintain order.

This order will last for 30 days. Meanwhile, a decision regarding Wilson's future is expected to come any day between now and the end of the month.
