Last Thursday afternoon, a Tampa, Fla. boy went missing while playing in his grandmother’s yard. Even after police were called and an all-night search was performed, there was no sign of him. The media were alerted on Friday morning, and naturally they began reporting en masse.
One reporter was walking through the neighborhood following the announcement and spotted something odd: “a muddied and tired-looking young boy climbing out of some overgrown vegetation in a yard nearby.” It turned out to be the missing boy, and reporter Cameron Polom brought him home much to the relief of all involved.
So why did the kid run away? According to the Today Show report, little Zeke “wanted some space away from his adoring but ever-present younger brother.” Sometimes, a night alone in the woods really is better than hanging out with your little brother or sister, right?
