It looks like Thor: The Dark World is doing even better than expected in the box office this weekend. According to Deadline, Marvel's latest sequel is projected to earn anywhere between $85.8 million to $87.7 million in the domestic box office by Sunday's end—possibly even more if ticket sales keep going the way they are. Even better: the film has already claimed the spot for ninth biggest November box office debut ever, just behind 2012's Skyfall (which opened to $88.36 million). Not bad!
With Thor: The Dark World claiming the number one spot in the box office, MTV's Bad Grandpa nabbed the number two spot with a projected $11 million earned this weekened—also not bad for its third week in the box office.
As for the rest of the box office: Free Birds, which opened last week, took the number three spot, Last Vegas nabbed the number four spot. Final box office numbers will be available tomorrow.
