There's something extremely inviting about a brand new sex shop that sports its own bar and cafe. Splash Sexy Boutique (155 Eighth Ave.) opened in Chelsea this week, offering customers a place to unwind before they spend money on a variety of equipment designed to help them really unwind.
Be aware that the cafe hasn't finalized its menu, and that the bar and lounge aren't serving liquor yet because the store hasn't received its liquor license. That's fine for the moment, because lingerie and sex toys are what attract customers
The presence of a cafe and lounge just give the store—which already bills itself "A Place Like No Other"—added value. Soon enough, alcohol will give liquid courage to timid buyers, or relieve buyer's remorse.
