It's official: The Scream franchise will never end. According to The Wrap, MTV has greenlit a TV pilot based on the film series, which released its last film back in 2011.

As it's still in the early stages, not much info is available yet, but what we do know: It'll be an hour-long series, MTV is in discussions with various writers to pen the script, and, apparently, they are also in negotiations with franchise creator Wes Craven to direct the pilot. If all goes according to plan, the network is eyeing a Summer 2014 premiere for the show.

No word yet on if Courteney CoxDavid Arquette, and Neve Campbell will continue their tradition of being involved in every Scream-related project ever, but come on, they have to.
