Nearly Named: Microsoft Interface Manager

Many saw Steve Jobs's jab that Bill Gates and Microsoft "Just have no taste" as needlessly harsh. But if you were to see what Gates & Co. nearly named its most famous product, you would have agreed. Before Windows emerged as the clear winner, Gates and co-founder Paul Allen were planning to give their operating system a name that aptly described its function: an Interface Manager.
