Despite all that's occurred between Rihanna and Chris Brown, the singer told Oprah— "I still love him."
But they're not romantic now. Just friends.
"We built a trust again and that's it," she said on Oprah's Next Chapter, last night. "We love each other and we probably always will. We've been working on our friendship again and now we're very close friends and that's not anything we're going to try to change."
Rihanna did admit that she's been reuniting with Brown, in secret. That whole St. Tropez meetup? Yeah, that happened. But she says seeing him again in those circumstances is "awkward because I still love him."
"My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me," she said. "I have to maintain it and suppress it. When you don't understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes...I think he is the love of my life. He was my first love."
But how is she able to have this kind of relationship with him given his history of violence against her?
"I have forgiven him," she says. "It took me a long time. I was angry for a long time. I truly love him, so the main thing for me is that he's at peace...I care."
