Live Show Alert: Get Drunk and Rowdy with the Pogues Thursday in Chicago

Proving that everyone can be Irish with the right music and the right booze.

Holy shit — The Pogues are still standing! And the original lineup will be appearing in Chicago for an evening billed as “A Parting Night With…” The Irish troubadours, fronted by now-toothless singer Shane MacGowan, have been pumping out their lager-stained anthems for almost three decades now, although they haven’t recorded anything new in about half of their existence. They are joined on this night by New Jersey’s most recent rock upstarts, Titus Andronicus, whose 2010 album The Monitor blended Civil War themes with Springsteen ballads and, yes, Pogueish singalongs. This should be an event worthy of raising a few pints.-Finn Cohen
