It is rare that a live performance clip is the right choice for a music video. If we wanted that, we’d watch a video of a live performance, right? Kind of.
In this case, it’s hard to imagine getting a better feel for what Parquet Courts is all about through anything other than this “Borrowed Time” video. The band’s sound is of punk-ish roots and a nonchalant but effective delivery, and they captured both the spirit and the aesthetic with one rowdy night at Williamsburg’s Death By Audio, where this video was shot. As Stereogum puts it, “Within three minutes of hitting play on their “Borrowed Time” video, you should know just about everything you need to know about this band.”
