I love Rhymesayers. They never seem to get caught up with the latest trends or gimmicks. If you’re not familiar with Grieves, his style falls somewhere around the Slug/Brother Ali realm. You might look at Grieves, a young white rapper with tats and a lip ring, and expect another carefree kid bragging about living “the life”, making money, and having fun, but that’s way off. Think the opposite of that.
Released last week, “Lightspeed” is the first single off the new Grieves record Together/Apart. Track by Budo, who produced many of the songs on the record and who has been touring with Grieves for the past 2 years. The duo will be on the road with Atmosphere on the Family Tour this April/May and then on the Warped Tour this summer, coinciding with the release of their first full length release on Rhymesayers.
