Denver-based husband/wife duo Tennis popped up in summer of 2010 with “Marathon.” Their story was compelling—they’d written the album while sailing around for months—and they quickly became a blog favorite with their light and dreamy vintage pop. They released Cape Dory in 2011, then returned with Young & Old in 2012, but they never quite matched the buzz around the first single.

The hype machine can be unforgiving and fickle, but with their latest singles, Tennis is sounding rejuvenated. Without reinventing themselves, Tennis sounds fuller, cleaner, and more confident than ever. The hazy dream-pop sound has floated away, and hearing Tennis with a bit of oomph is a good thing. Check out “100 Lovers” below.

The Small Sound EP comes out February 3.
