Acts that balance on the shoulder of one man (or woman) often reflect that singularity, but that’s not the case here. Cooley adds some muscle to his music, opting out of the “I’m alone in my basement making a song on a keyboard” vibe. Layers of vocals over a lush backdrop makes “The Coyotes” sound like the work of a band, full of body but still maintaining a raw, unmistakable indie quality that gives it a bit of a serrated edge.
“The Coyotes” is from Mesita’s 2012 album The Coyote, and if it’s any indication of what he’s got in store, Mesita is an act to watch out for in 2K12.
