Khiry Maxberry is a 20-year-old artist from the DMV who records under the name KHIRY oviim. He recently left his parents’ house because they don’t support his decision to pursue a career in music. So for now, he’s homeless, but he’s staying with a friend and determined to make the music work. Read more of his story here.
Earlier this month we heard the inspirational “Pray,” and today we’re premiering a powerful song called “Foreplay: black & Unmastered*” that will be included in a larger project, which Khiry details: “This is a project that I decided to craft based on my perception of the damages and treatment of the black psyche*. I consider matters like these from both perspectives presented on a day-to-day and ponder how they shape me, if they even do. I don’t know. Who knows.”
