RJD2 is the veteran producer who is probably best known for his work with Def Jux back in the day. Since then, he’s been branching out into more than just hip-hop, taking on the role of singer/instrumentalist and creating some sounds that range from electronic to organic. Aaron Livingston is the man whose distinctive voice is possibly best known for his contribution to The Roots’ “Guns Are Drawn.” The two have worked together in the past, but their next move involves a more official pairing – Icebird.
On October 11th, Icebird will release their first collaborative album, The Abandoned Lullaby, through RJD2’s own label, RJ’s Electrical Connections. “Going And Going. And Going” is the lead single, and it’s soulful, knocking sound is a promising first look. It’s something like Cee-Lo, except a little frayed around the edges, which sometimes isn’t a bad look.
