“Helicopter” is a new song from Deerhunter‘s upcoming Halcyon Digest, slated for a September 28th release. Led by Bradford Cox, an extremely tall, lanky (he has Marfan Syndrome) and magnetic character, Deerhunter is one of those indie darlings that I’ve never been totally convinced of. Their fans adore them, and descriptions of their music make them out to be indie rock Gods, but I’ve given them more than a fair chance and it’s just not clicking. “Helicopter” is nostalgic and dreamy and driven by a simple and repetitive melody.
