Here’s the first taste of Bright Eyes‘ upcoming album The People’s Key, out February 15th. I was a big fan of Bright Eyes’ I’m Wide Awake It’s Morning, but since then the whole folksy/country/Americana sound has gotten a little tired. With “Shell Games” Conor and company hint at an album that is more full, more edgy, and more rock. Bright Eyes has shown clear signs of maturing from the early days of borderline emo, but in that maturity, some of the flare has been lost. This song, and the accompanying cover, bring some of that flare back. For the first time in a few years, I’m really excited for a Bright Eyes album. Credit to 24Bit and CoS.
