Video: Papa - "Put Me To Work"

By @JennsDrunk

Do you like people free-falling as if from nowhere?  Are you a fan of instruments completely covered in multi-colored post its?  Would a flaming axe slicing through a piece of wood make you feel alive?!  Then you should definitely watch Papa’s new video for their latest single, “Put Me To Work.”

The Los Angeles duo has truly outdone themselves on this record.  All the elements come together to form an alternative banger that makes you want to dance, fuck, scream, break something, and punch someone in the face all at the same time.

In the video, directed by the wonderful Jonathan Hausfater (who also did the two previous and equally great Papa videos), the boys showcase their musical talent as well as their delightful flair for the weirder things in life.

Bass player and all around punk, Danny Presant, dons a full skeleton costume as he rips on the bass showing off dance moves that would make the late Michael Jackson jealous. Lead singer, Darren Weiss of Girls, has an intensity in his eyes that captivates you as he belts out the lyrics despite the twinkling lights strung through his beard.  As the song builds the video amplifies; jumping, falling, umbrella dancing, and finally it all culminates with the smash of a stage light-bulb.  The video feels a bit like a fever dream, but it’s definitely a fever I hope never breaks.
