Brassfoot is Up to No Good In New "Black Pow Wow" Video

By Ralph Sher

UK producer Brassfoot is more known for his convulsing electronic soundscapes, but he puts his MC talents on full display on “Black Pow Wow” from his forthcoming EP Realms, his third offering for the London-based label Apron.

The unadulterated, peaking thuds and hollow crashes of the instrumental—which wouldn’t sound out of place on a Tri-Angle release—give way to Brassfoot’s boisterous introduction before a menacing bass line slips in and he gets down to some double-time mischief. Amongst his jarring club cuts, the hip-hop influence has always been there, especially with his King Geedorah-type sample choice. Although this track is a lot more grime tinged, the crossover to emceeing makes a lot of sense.
