2. Ben Khan - "Blade (Tidal Wave of Love)" Demo

Previously, Ben Khan graced these pages as a pop-leaning English crooner with a sharp ear for melancholic melodies. He's turned a corner this week, however, with this "Blade (Tidal Wave of Love)" demo. It's darker and more distorted than anything we've heard previously, but Khan's slurry vocals are as addictive as ever. The man is making moves.

3. Danny Brown & Clams Casino - "Worth It"

Nobody raps quite like the Danny Brown, and his yowling screech has been woefully sparse since 2013's Old.

Thankfully, Adult Swim enlisted Danny for one of their annual singles, and paired him with one of the best producers out right now: Clams Casino. The result is wobbly perfection, a dystopian, layered production wrapped in gold leaf. Hopefully "Worth It" sparks more from this duo.

4. Future ft. Drake - Where Ya At (HLTR$KLTR X MxM Remix)

Future and Drake's original "Where Ya At" is a slinky, sexy cut that grumbles through its runtime, murderous and foreboding in just the right way.

HLTR$KLTR and MxM do away with all that discretion in their remix, enlisting some huge HudMo horns and all the drums to blow this sucker wide open. In the words of the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman, LET IT RAIN.

5. Armani White - "Young Adults"

Philadelphia's Armani White is getting his city back in rap's good graces, one song at a time. This kid has an incredible flow, razor-sharp wit, and an honest, refreshing agenda.

"Young Adults" is another impressive piece of the puzzle, nearly three minutes of breakneck raps that fly by with barely a breath between verses and the chorus.

6. Lil B & Chance The Rapper - "We Rare"

When Lil B and Chance The Rapper announced that they had made an album, no one assumed that it would be delivered so soon.

But this week the two rappers shared their collaborative project, six tracks of "based freestyles." Though each track is a freestyle, "We Rare" sounds like one of the most complete songs. A simple, but infectious hook layered over a hard-hitting beat has always been a great combo.

7. Ciscero ft. Mannywellz and Asante - "Kids Wear Crowns"

There's an instant feel-good vibe about the latest single from Maryland native Ciscero. The horns might get your attention in "Kids Wear Crowns," but the real focal point are the verses from Ciscero, Mannywellz and Asante. There isn't a true hook to this track, but it doesn't need one.

8. Gio drinks. - "Audio Dope"

The beat for "Audio Dope" starts with a fun throwback sample, so you really don't expect Gio drinks. to come on the track so aggressively.

But the switch works beautifully, and it gets you to the best part of the song: Gio's raps. Many releases lately have steered away from the party hits and returned to the basics of just going bar for bar—"Audio Dope" fits right in.

9. Praything - "Heaven Is A Lonely Place"

Praything's latest track "Heave Is A Lonely Place" is far more cheerful than the title may allude. There's a sweet joy embedded within the rhythm that makes the song feel so good, and the warm vibes wash over you from start to finish.

10. Casey Veggies - "Organic"

Casey Veggies' new album Live and Grow is due out on September 25. Ahead of its release, Casey linked up with Hit-Boy to release new freestyle simply titled "Organic." Hit-Boy provides a funky beat that makes it hard to resist the urge to nod along, all while Casey unleashes a swaggering freestyle that fits perfectly.

11. Four Tet - "KH - BACK2THESTART"

Earlier this week, Four Tet released a new track via Twitter with a short message saying, "Here's a track people keep asking for." Ask and you shall receive. The seven minute song has a slow, steady build that sucks you in like a hypnotist's pendulum.

12. Yung Gutted ft. JO$H - "Treat U Right"

Yung Gutted has been keeping a low profile lately, but he recently returned with a new track. "Treat U Right" is a hard-hitting, bass-heavy song that somehow still finds a way to feel super smooth. The syrupy sample creates an audio illusion, as if all of the sounds were also in slow motion.

13. Milan - "Lime"

Australian singer Milan makes a memorable impression with her latest single "Lime." She smoothly transitions from displaying her sweet voice to showcasing her low-key rhyming ability that exudes a very unique essence of cool. "Lime" is a laid-back track, perfect for a summer night.

14. Justin Bieber - "Hold Tight (Tim Legend Rework)"

Last year, Justin Bieber dove into the sexier side of R&B—the original version of "Hold Tight" is a slow, seductive single. But Tim Legend recently reworked the track and gave it new life. The sultriness of the track remains, but the additional bursts of energy are a fresh twist.

15. CHINAH - "Away From Me (Michah Remix)"

For his latest remix, Michah adds a pulsating beat to CHINAH's dreamlike single "Away From Me." Though the tempo is noticeably sped up, it's not enough to transform this into a dance track. Not that it needs to be—a steady snap or clap feels just right.

16. Kayoh - "Bring It Back"

Baltimore native Kayoh used his latest track "Bring It Back" as a full display of his talents. The song feels like a 3-for-1 deal: "Bring It Back" has three distinct parts, each one synth-heavy in distinct and unique ways. Kayoh layers all of the sounds seamlessly, which makes each swift transition more exciting.
