Carly Rae Jepsen finally debuted the new song she wrote with Dev Hynes last night during her appearance on Saturday Night Live. She had hinted at their collaboration earlier this year on Instagram, sharing pictures of herself with the eclectic producer and his frequent partner Ariel Rechtshaid. Though Dev is best known for his moody alt-R&B solo records and producing Solange’s critically acclaimed 2012 EP True, he’s also highly in demand by pop stars from Beyoncé to Madonna.
All three have writing credits on “All That,” Carly Rae’s new mid-tempo ballad. It’s got strong Dev vibes, with the ’80s throwback synths and a much more grown n’ sexy vibe than we typically see from the “Call Me Maybe” singer. The second single off her as-yet-untitled third album, “All That” points to a fresh sound for Carly Rae, and per usual, it comes just in time for song of the summer consideration.
