When you’re the daughter of famed director Jacques Doillon and international icon Jane Birkin, the step-daughter of Serge Gainsbourg, you really don’t need to embark on the often difficult journey of starting your own career. But Lou Doillon did, and thankfully at that, because the singer produces material that embodies a sound entirely her own. Her latest, “Devil Or Angel” is a gorgeous track rich with soul; a feeling further emphasized by Doillon’s melancholy vocals. With touches of folk and blues reminiscent of past female artists like Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon and Carole King; Doillon is one to pay attention to.
