Moms are influential in almost everyone’s life because, I mean, they’re your mom, but for TRACE, it’s a little different. Her mom is one of her biggest influences because she’s the “Vietnamese Tina Turner”—no really. She’s been a fixture in the Vietnamese music scene for the past 50 years and so TRACE’s own transition into music seemed almost preordained.
When you listen to her material, you hear this. Music comes natural to TRACE, it’s rooted deep in her soul in a way that only comes when you know an artist was meant to make music. Her new song, “Low,” is the latest example of this. It’s a haunting, slow-building track that nicely bridges the worlds of electronic and pop.
