When you write about music everyday, after a while it’s easy to become overly subjective. Songs that previously might have wowed you, may just be OK to you now. It’s inevitable; when you’re so far immersed in one thing, it takes something truly special to hit you and force you to pay attention. And that impact is immediate; you know that this is something different as soon as you hear it. Hayley Coupon’s “Let Me Be” is one of these songs. Devastatingly beautiful, it’s a relatable tale of heartbreak and love lost; a feeling that’s perfectly accentuated by Coupon’s wistful, vintage-soaked vocals.
