Last week, Matthew Otto and Devon Welsh shared some unexpected and unfortunate news: the Montréal-based duo had decided that Majical Cloudz would be no more. The announcement was made through Tumblr, through which they also reassured fans that it will not be the last time that they will hear from Otto and Welsh, both of whom have decided to release music separately.
For the duo’s final show as Majical Cloudz, they returned to their hometown this past Thursday. Some fan-filmed footage of of their performance at La Sala Rossa has surfaced via Stereogum, which you can watch above.
Devon Welsh formed Majical Cloudz in 2010 with Matthew E. Duffy, who left Majical Cloudz after the release of II. Matthew Otto joined the project in 2012, and alongside Welsh, the two released two more full-length studio albums: 2013’s Impersonator, and the duo’s latest and final album, Are You Alone?.
