At the beginning at this year, James Murphy penned an open letter to his fans to discuss the state of the band and explained that LCD Soundsystem were in the process of recording a new album.

Now, after appearing in a string of festival appearances with no additional updates regarding the follow-up to 2010's This is Happening, it's been reported that LCD has cancelled their upcoming Asia and Australia dates—which had yet to be announced—to work on the album.

As FACT points out, LCD Soundsystem was slated to perform at Hong Kong’s Clockenflap Festival in November, but according to the festival's Facebook page, the collective has cancelled their appearance due to "studio scheduling conflicts related to their new album."

In March, LCD Soundsystem played their first show in five years in New York and have been touring since. It's unclear as to when exactly LCD Soundsystem's new album will arrive, though Murphy did promise that it would come "sometime this year" in his open letter. This would be their first release on Columbia Records, which the group reportedly signed to earlier this year.
