Blues has never been my go-to genre of music; the closest I can get to blues is probably garage rock or folk, but even that’s still miles away from Gary Clark Jr.‘s act. Based out of Austin, Texas, the 27-year-old artist sounds like he’s been to Heartbreak City and back, his voice full of soul and his lyrics drenched in sorrow and an apparent wisdom that can only come with experience. He’s recently released his four-piece EP titled Bright Lights, and I’m sincerely hoping that his album will be released soon because this is a refreshing departure from synthesizers and falsetto voice ranges.
