Hamilton has quickly become one of the most popular Broadway shows after its debut in February 2015 (it was transferred to Broadway in August 2015). Already having won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, the musical’s writer, Lin-Manual Miranda, is ready to release another album. Except this time, it’s going to be a mixtape.

According to Broadway World, Miranda revealed in a Vanity Fair interview that The Hamilton Mixtape will feature remixes and covers of songs from Hamilton by the likes of Chance The Rapper, Busta Rhymes, Regina Spektor, Common, and many others. Miranda’s aim is to keep the mixtape “inspired by the original,” with half of the tracklist comprised of covers, and the others, interpolations.

Hamilton‘s initial title was once The Hamilton Mixtape back in 2012 when the musical was being workshopped. The musical was inspired by the biography of Alexander Hamilton, written by Ron Chernow, and it’s the first hip-hop musical that’s made it to Broadway.
