Will Smith Is "Pretty Certain" A Reunion Album And Tour With DJ Jazzy Jeff Will Happen Next Year

Will Smith has been dipping his toes in the rap waters recently, seeing if it’s warm enough for him to jump back in: Early this year, the now-actor was supposedly working on new material with Kanye West and his son Jaden, then he made good on all the buzz a few days ago with his appearance on Bomba Estéreo’s “Fiesta” remix.

Smith upped the ante again today, appearing on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show and said he was “pulled back in” to music by “Fiesta,” then added that he has recorded 30 songs, including “six to seven” that he “really likes.” But most importantly, Smith said that he is “pretty certain” a reunion album and tour for The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff will happen next year. He also pointed out that the tour would be their first full tour in support of an album.

Smith went on to say:

“I’m pretty much popping in the studio every day, and I’m looking for artists to collaborate with and I’m trying to still find that voice. I have so many things that I want to say, and I’m struggling with saying them in a way that fit the flavor of music that I tend to like. I’ve been working hard, and I got a lot of young artists and young philosophers and stuff like that just trying to help me extract the ideas from my mind and my heart.”

Watch the full 20-minute interview above. Here’s to this reunion actually happening, because there has been a severe lack of this over the past 20 or so years:
