For Dazed’s Visionaries series, the magazine has teamed up with rising British record label Young Turks and video production company Yours Truly to conceptualize multiple high-quality, epic videos featuring artists signed to the label which are being released every day this week. Filmed during New Year’s Eve in Tulum, Mexico—a site that houses many of the country’s Mayan ruins—the series begins with a massive dance party to bring in the New Year in which FKA twigs, Sampha, Four Tet, Charlift, the xx, and SBTRKT all perform leading up to Grimes announcing the countdown to 2014.
The second video in the series features Charlift’s Caroline Polachek singing an operatic Handel aria in the middle of a breathtaking body of water surrounded by nothing but nature. She explains during the video how turning to opera helped save the quality of her vocals. In the third video published today, FKA twigs delivers a hypnotic performance of “Hide” with a group of locals in the background bewitched by her angelic voice. Expect more installments of the series to be released the rest of this week.
