Shamir’s debut Ratchet album is fast approaching, and the young Las Vegas native is celebrating the best way he knows how: by becoming a puppet. “The 7-year-old me is, like, dying on the inside,” Shamir said of his transformation. “This is a dream come true.”
The video splices footage of flesh-and-bone Shamir in his natural desert habitat with a puppet party. Directed by Oliver Hodges, “Call It Off” is a Jim Henson-inspired, bubblegum-colored anthem that details “the transformative joy we feel when we finally get ourselves out of bummer situations,” according to the press release. The music itself cements Shamir as an artist to watch, LCD Soundsystem in primary colors and dreadlocks. Ratchet drops May 19.
