Fourteen years after their monumental album The Cold Vein, Cannibal Ox has the followup. Blade of the Ronin isn’t out until March 3, but Vast Aire and Vordul Mega have made the whole thing available to stream on SoundCloud.
The two haven’t lost a step in the interim. Apart from the two strong cuts we’ve already heard, Blade of the Ronin is chock full of classic, haunting beats from newcomer Bill Cosmiq, paired with the futuristic, profound rhymes exclusive to Cannibal Ox. Standouts include “The Power Cosmiq” and “Water.”
Cannibal Ox is throwing a release party at NYC’s Webster Hall this Monday, with scheduled appearances from GZA and Freeway. They’ve earned it.
