MNEK has a truly unique voice—so unique, in fact, that he’s taken on one of history’s best-known songs and flipped it into something fresh.
“Me and my song choices,” reads the SoundCloud description for this new “Believe.” But feel no shame, MNEK. Any old cheese that has accumulated around Cher’s original is banished from the opening notes: the English singer forgoes the signature Auto-Tune completely, choosing instead to bring in some Disclosure-style synths and heavy dance drums.
All in all, it’s a pleasant surprise and another affirmation that MNEK is one of the best young voices out right now. Stream “Believe” below.
