Larry June’s menacing raps get an electronic boost today thanks to the talents of Tommy Kruise. The original “Glock 40” boasted clean bell synths and a steady, head-bobbing beat. But Kruise will have none of that—he’s more interested in a grimy, distorted sound takes the track to the gutter, and it works beautifully next to the ominous lyrics.
The collaboration between the Bay Area’s June and Montreal’s Kruise comes in the midst of new projects for both artists: June’s GOODJOBLARRY EP dropped two weeks ago, while Kruise has Memphis Confidential Vol.2 on the way. Stream the remix—and compare it with the original—below.
