Ta-ku has turned his focus back to home on the last couple remixes, using fellow Australian artists as the basis for some gorgeous electronic soundscapes. Apart from their being Australian, you might not think Empire of the Sun and Ta-ku have much in common. One basically makes electronic opera, while the other makes Songs To Break Up To. But stranger things have happened.
This “DNA” remix is a bit of both. Ta-ku holds off on bringing in vocals until almost two-thirds of the way through the song, uses the sharp strings and some electronic drums to create a beautiful build that morphs into a arm-wrestling match between dubstep and chamber music.
