Bird Peterson put his own spin on Daft Punk’s futuristic space jam “Doin’ It Right” today. Thankfully, Peterson’s rendition remains in the cosmic spectrum, adding a persistent bass line straight out of the Drive soundtrack and some ghostly whistling synths that gel nicely with the Daft Punk sounds that join in halfway through the track.
In fact, Peterson’s additions are even better suited to Panda Bear’s disembodied guest vocals, reminding us that “if you lose your way tonight, that’s how you know the magic’s right.” The remix warms up and strips down the original without losing any energy in between, a rare feat for something that flies this close to its inspiration.
