The backstory behind Manicanparty is an inspiring, but kind of sad one. Up until the present that is. Duo Pat Morrissey and Jess Corazza are no strangers to the struggle. Their exhaustive, and often times disappointing journey, began some years ago as high school bandmates in Mound, MN. Separated for a time by different colleges and callings, the pair eventually reconnected in Hartford, CT shortly before relocating to Brooklyn, NY where they currently record out of Treehouse Recording Studios, an establishment owned by Atwork Management’s Jason Salmon. Salmon not only gave them a place to continue working, he lined them up with fellow Atwork talent OnCue, for whom the two produced a couple of tracks for on his recent Can’t Wait mixtape.
After being told numerous times their sound was too far outside the norm, Pat and Jess are determined to prove the critics wrong with a new catalogue of material and fresh identity as Manicanparty. If you’re impressed with “Rebels in the Light”, then the full EP is going to blow your face off. I’ve had the fortune of hearing a few additional tracks and they are fantastic. Stay tuned.
